A Coin Story

At a grocery store, a kid stood between me and another lady, holding a handful of coins. Suddenly, one coin slipped from his hand and fell on the floor, the coin was at the side of him and that lady.

The natural reaction for most people would be to pick it up instantly—whether it is theirs or not or at least ask if it’s someone else’s. But this kid? The lady didn’t pick it up since it wasn’t hers. Surprisingly, the boy didn’t either. Instead, he first counted the coins in his hand, making sure one was actually missing. Only after confirming the loss in the calculation, he finally picked up the fallen coin.
In a world where many react instantly, taking a moment to think and verify shows awareness and responsibility.

After that, he asked an old shopkeeper to give two jellies, each costing ₹2. The shopkeeper man searched for it with his glasses and found 1 INR Jelly. The kid did not agree. He was specific about ₹2 each 2 Jellies. This old man then called up his young son & they finally found  ₹2  Jellies. The kid insisted 2 Jellies and 1 Mango Bite. The shopkeeper hesitated to provide another rupee Mango bite. Upon asking again and again that the kid only has 4 INR so how can he get an extra Mango Bite.  Finally, the kid handed over ₹1 saying this one is for Mango Bite.

Interestingly, the boy didn’t hand over ₹1 first—he waited until he received both ₹2 jellies. Once he got them, he gave the remaining ₹1 for the Mango Bite. It was clear that he knew the value of money and wasn’t going to let anyone fool him.

This kid is precise with money and doesn’t hand over the amount until he’s sure of what he’s getting. It reinforces the qualities of patience, verification, and careful decision-making. In a world full of stealing credits, here is an honest kid that does not collect things without confirmation, whether it belong to him or not.
